      March 2026 – September 2026Contract, full time

Owned Shopify development for a DTC oral-care store doing roughly $2M a month.

      • 192 product pages and pre-landers, shipped as one testing programme
      • Three custom Shopify apps: a membership portal, Buy X Get Y, and a discount engine

      • Owned Shopify development on the Puur Smile oral-care account, a store doing roughly $2M a month in sales: custom Liquid sections, bundle and offer variants, subscription selectors, sticky mobile purchase UX, and cart logic across a catalogue running continuous tests. Over the period, the store's conversion rate rose 59% to 3.59%, a figure shared with the offer and media side of the team.
      • Built and maintained 192 product pages and pre-landers as a single testing programme, spanning direct-response PDPs, advertorials, ranking pages, listicles, and journal-style bridges in Shopify, Replo, and GemPages.
      • Built the dental membership end to end as a custom Shopify app, the PuurSmile Dental Portal. The plan sells as a subscription that entitles members to recurring benefits, so the app carries the parts a theme cannot: enrolment from inside the product page, member state and entitlements, a portal where members manage or cancel their own plan, checkout extensions, and custom Recharge behaviour for guarded carts and cancellation handling. Inside it, built the billing and eligibility pipeline that keeps the programme honest: a Node service on Railway between Shopify, Recharge and Careington, the third-party provider who fulfils the plan. It generates their 29-field eligibility file, validates it before sending, assigns each member to the right billing group and delivers it over SFTP, with cancellations driven by a single Recharge webhook so dental access ends only when no qualifying subscription is left. Their full-file format cancels anyone missing from it, so an incomplete upload would have terminated around 22,000 existing members at once. I caught that mid-build and put the safeguards in before it could reach production.
      • Ran that app's own infrastructure, deploying its dashboard on Railway and configuring SMTP so enrolment, renewal, and cancellation mail sent reliably rather than through a theme app.
      • Fixed a silent revenue leak in the free-gift programme. Gifts were added to the cart client-side, so any customer checking out through Shop Pay or an express button skipped the cart entirely and the gift never reached the order. Built a custom Buy X Get Y app that adds the gift inside checkout itself, so it lands whichever checkout path the customer takes, and shipped it per product line as the catalogue grew.
      • Removed a hard ceiling on experimentation. Shopify caps a discount at 25 products, and the store had outgrown it as free-gift combinations multiplied across tests. Proposed and built an app that collapses the whole programme into a single discount rule: the backend maps each gift to its trigger product and marks assigned items free, so one rule covers every combination, the gift code stays consistent, and a new test no longer consumes a discount slot. Shipped with an admin dashboard so the team could manage the mapping without a developer.
      • Audited and cleaned a live theme that had drifted badly: hardcoded IDs in template logic, page-builder blocks carrying their own inline HTML and scripts, duplicate JavaScript includes, and scripts nothing referenced any more, all of it costing load time. Documented what each piece did before touching it, removed what was dead, tracked what stayed, converted images to WebP, and agreed a set of coding standards with the team so the theme would not drift back.
      • Built the team's reusable Checkout Champ funnel foundation from the ground up: multi-step checkout, one-click post-purchase upsells and downsells, subscription journeys, offer configuration, and conversion tracking. Documented the setup and guided the in-house developer through updates so the working funnel could be duplicated as the base for new landing pages and checkout tests.
      • Brought structure to a fast-moving contractor environment: created a PageSpeed and implementation tracker, an internal development roadmap, reusable QA checklists, and a Dev → Self-QA → Tracker Update → QA Review workflow covering PDPs, advertorials, landing pages, cart, checkout, forms, tracking, and responsive QA.
      • Provided technical direction to the in-house developer, reviewing implementation approach, explaining reusable patterns, and helping standardize naming, handoffs, staging-first releases, coding practices, and safer deployment planning instead of one-off live edits.
      • Ran the A/B programme in Intelligems and reported it honestly. Adding express payment methods to the product page lifted conversion 24.89%, from 2.03% to 2.54% across 28,073 visitors, with the interval entirely above zero. A scarcity counter driven by real inventory lifted conversion 15.26% at 98% probability, on an interval whose lower edge sat at zero, and left order value unproven. A pricing test never separated on the topline, though it established that the higher price earned 42% more revenue per unit on 27% fewer units, so the price stayed put pending a larger sample. Decisions were made on intervals rather than on point estimates.
      • Supported VWO experimentation and production QA across PDPs, cart, checkout, discounts, shipping rules, and performance, translating marketing tests into production code without breaking analytics or attribution.

    Questions

    Before you get in touch.

    Something not covered here?

Ask it on a call, or by email.

Yes. My contract with Incubator Lab on the Puur Smile account ended in September 2026, and I am looking for a full-time remote role as a senior Shopify developer. I also work part time for Drømmerom, about 10 hours a week.

Negros Oriental, in the Philippines, on UTC+8. That overlaps European mornings and US evenings, and I have worked remotely with teams in Norway, Germany and the US.

At Incubator Lab I set up a PageSpeed and implementation tracker, reusable QA checklists and a Dev, Self-QA, Tracker Update, QA Review workflow, and gave the in-house developer technical direction on reusable patterns, naming, handoffs and staging-first releases.

Yes, and this is usually where the interesting work is. I have built membership programmes end to end: enrolment inside the product page, a custom dashboard, checkout extensions, transactional email over SMTP, and custom Recharge behaviour for guarded carts, portal controls, and cancellations.

Claude Code and ChatGPT in the build, the builder AI in GemPages and Replo for page variants, and AI features shipped inside client products. Generated code is reviewed before it ships, the same as anything else.

Shopify Plus, Checkout Champ, Recharge, Klaviyo, Replo, GemPages, VWO, Intelligems, UpCart, GA4, GTM, and Hotjar, among others. If you are using something I have not listed, I will tell you upfront whether I can support it.

A small number, alongside a full-time role. The Checkout Champ page covers funnel work and how projects are priced; for anything else, book a call and I will give you a straight answer on scope.
