A test is only finished when the winner is live. On a store running continuous product page tests, that last step was manual: someone copied the winning page's title, description, SEO fields, product type, vendor, tags, template suffix and manual collections onto the control, one field at a time, or waited for a developer to do it.
One action instead of a checklist
I built an internal app that promotes the winner in one action. Pick the winning page and the control, review the changes, and promote. It is built in Remix with Polaris and App Bridge, so it lives inside the Shopify admin like any other screen, and it is deployed on Railway.
Show the change before making it
Nothing is written until the person promoting has seen it. The review step shows every promoted field side by side, including the variant prices and the collections, and only the rows marked as changed are written.
Make it reversible
Before anything is written, the app snapshots the control to a persistent volume. A history screen restores any snapshot, so a promotion is never a one-way door.
Refuse the dangerous cases
Two cases are blocked outright. The app refuses to overwrite a protected template, and it skips rule-based collections, because those populate themselves and writing to them would fight the rule. A good internal tool knows what it should not touch.
Why it matters
The point is to make closing a test cheap. When promoting a winner is one reviewed action instead of a retyping job, a winner can go live as soon as the test is called.
